Soha Ali Khan calls the world 'different and scarier place' and why she stopped sharing daughter Inaaya’s photos online: ‘Even posting things about you when you’re too young should have informed consent’

Soha Ali Khan has spoken about her decision to reduce the number of photographs she shares of her daughter, Inaaya, on social media. The actor said the change stems from concerns about privacy and how images can be used online. Soha and her husband, actor Kunal Kemmu, were previously more comfortable sharing pictures of Inaaya, but their approach has become more cautious as their daughter has grown older. The actor explained that her views on sharing Inaaya’s photographs have evolved over the years, pointing out that a decision made earlier doesn’t have to remain unchanged.

Soha Ali Khan says the online world has changed

Speaking at an event, according to ANI, Soha said the digital environment today is vastly different from what it was when Inaaya was younger, and believes parents need to reassess how much of their children’s lives they make public. “When Inaaya was younger, we posted a lot of images with her face. From then to now, the world is a different, scarier place. A lot of people say, ‘Why aren’t you posting her face? Sometimes she is seen, and she is papped. We know what she looks like; you’ve posted in the past’. So, just because I’ve done something in the past doesn’t mean that I can’t alter what I’m doing. I am doing it for various reasons,” Soha explained.

Soha also addressed the possible consequences of putting children’s photographs on the internet, noting that her concerns go beyond simply controlling how often Inaaya appears on social media. “We don’t share images of her on the internet because of what that can be taken and what things can be done with that. She understands that there’s a reason behind this. I don’t need to go into the depth of the depravity that exists. Even posting things about you when you’re too young should have informed consent. I will be relinquishing your right to privacy in the future because I would have shared so much of your life growing up,” she added. The actor stressed the importance of giving children a degree of control over their own personal information.
