Veteran action director Sham Kaushal has opened up about the joy of becoming a grandfather, saying baby Vihaan has transformed his life and that the little one is a spitting image of his father, Vicky Kaushal.
Sham Kaushal talks about grandson baby Vihaan
In conversation with India Today, 70-year-old Sham Kaushal got candid about his bond with grandson Vihaan, born to Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif on November 7, 2025. The proud grandfather said the baby has brought a new kind of happiness into his life.He said, “He has changed my life. Whenever I am busy with work and can’t hug him physically, I do a couple of video calls with him and talk to him. He is so nice. I thank God as much as I can.”When asked whether Vihaan takes after Vicky or Katrina, Sham had a clear answer. He said, “I think he looks like Vicky.”
Sham Kaushal calls himself blessed, credits his family
Sham Kaushal also reflected on how fortunate he feels to have the family he does today. He said, “There are so many parents in the world who are blessed by their children. I am one of them. I had never imagined all this. I have got two wonderful kids, and my daughter-in-law is so nice. I thank God.”
Sham Kaushal has no plans to retire
Despite his sons urging him to slow down, Sham made it clear he has no intention of stopping. “They keep telling me to stop working. But what will I do if I don’t work? I have been working since I was nine years old. What will I do after having tea and breakfast?” he said with a laugh.He added that his relationship with work has shifted over the years. He said, “Earlier, I worked with insecurity. I had to take care of my family and my kids. Now I am in a secure zone. I don’t have to worry about money. I am working with good people, and I am enjoying it more.”

Earlier this year, Vicky and Katrina gave the paparazzi their first glimpse of Vihaan during an outing at Mumbai airport. While Katrina requested not to be photographed while carrying the baby, the couple allowed photographers to meet Vihaan, marking the infant’s first introduction to the media spotlight.
