Emraan Hashmi‘s ‘Awarapan 2’ was one of the most anticipated films of the year. While the first installment was not a hit at the box office, over the years, it grew on the minds of the audience, largely due to its music which has become cult. Evidently, the craze for the sequel was hard to miss and on the first day itself, the film crossed the lifetime collection of ‘Awarapan’.It benefitted from the Independence day weekend and made Rs 22 crore on day 1 according to Sacnilk. It saw a growth of 55 percent on day 2 and made Rs 33.75 crore. There were also more shows on Saturday. While on the first day, the film had 9033 shows, on day 2, there were 10,496 shows overall which also explains the growth in numbers. On Sunday, the number of shows of the film were reduced again to 9403. Thus, it also saw a decline in the collection and made Rs 26 crore on first Sunday.With that the film’s total collection so far now stands at Rs 81.75 crore net in India. The real test will be on Monday if the film manages to maintain its hold. The day 4 numbers will now be crucial to decide the film’s fate in the rest of the week. But ‘Awarapan 2’ has raced ahead of ‘Batwara 1947’ with a huge mark and the Sunny Deol starrer collected only Rs 7.25 crore on day 3. The film’s total collection now stands at Rs 26.50 crore.According to reports, ‘Awarapan 2’ is made on a budget of Rs 45 crore. Thus, it has managed to be a hit already with its first weekend collection. It is already enjoying a huge ROI (Return on investment).
