On the back of the success of ‘Operation Safed Sagar’, Abhay Verma has an exciting lineup of films ahead, many of which star popular star kids. He has already completed filming ‘Jacob Cardoso’ alongside Shanaya Kapoor, and has more projects on the way, including ‘King’ with Suhana Khan and ‘Laikey Laikaa’, where he shares screen space with Rasha Thadani.
Abhay Verma clears misconceptions about working with star kids
In a conversation with News18, he spoke about his experience working with the trio and cleared up any misconceptions surrounding them. “I don’t think there was a myth that I had in my mind about them. I enjoyed working with actors like Suhana, Rasha and Shanaya, who come from a film background. They all come from a different space compared to me but we all truly believe in each other’s dreams,” says Abhay.
Abhay Verma says star kids don’t carry weight of their surnames
He also praised them for staying grounded, saying, “I started respecting them a lot more when I saw that they don’t carry the weight of coming from film family backgrounds. They all put their work ahead of their surnames. It doesn’t matter if one is a Khan, a Thadani, a Kapoor or a Verma. We’re all same. And that’s the beauty of our film industry. Even if one person isn’t there, you’ll feel their absence.”

Abhay also shared that working with Rasha fulfilled a long-held wish of his. “Mera ek chhota sa lalach pura ho gaya Rasha ke through – to meet Raveena (Tandon) ma’am. She’s a legend, who has entertained the whole country. She’s so good and so witty! I’ve lots to learn from her,” remarks the ‘Munjya’ actor.
Abhay Verma recalls auditioning for ‘The Archies’ alongside Suhana Khan
Interestingly, Abhay’s collaboration with Suhana could have happened much earlier than ‘King’, Shah Rukh’s upcoming film. He had previously revealed that he auditioned for ‘The Archies’, which turned out to be Suhana’s debut project, and had even met Zoya Akhtar for the role, but decided to go ahead with Safed after being confirmed for it. On this, he says, “I don’t think Suhana knew I was auditioning for The Archies.““I was a part of it at such an early stage that the news didn’t get to her. We didn’t even discuss this during the shoot of King. We understand that a young actor has to give multiple auditions and get shortlisted only for very few ones. Whichever you get chosen for first, you go for that. You’ve to grab the first opportunity that comes your way with both hands and make the most out of it,” he adds.
Abhay Verma on the sense of brotherhood among young actors
Abhay also highlights that a sense of brotherhood runs strong among the younger lot of actors, whether nepo kids or not. “I believe that we, young actors, don’t really have that sense of competition among us. We respect each other’s dreams. We know the kind of stakes that are on us and the value of opportunities. That’s why we respect the opportunities each of us gets,” he shared.
