According to The Hindu, the Madras High Court has extended the deadline for the release of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ to October 31. The extension came after director Gautham Vasudev Menon sought more time to facilitate the theatrical release of the Vikram-led spy thriller.During the hearing, the filmmaker’s side informed the court that an investor has been finalised to help facilitate the release. The additional time is expected to allow the team to address the remaining financial and legal issues before the film can finally reach cinemas.
Court seeks documents over reported Rs 10.57 crore payment to Vikram
One of the key issues discussed during the hearing was a reported payment of Rs 10.57 crore to actor Vikram. The judge noted that there was no confirmation document available to establish the payment.Gautham Menon has now been directed to submit documents supporting the payment, along with details of the transaction, before the court-appointed observers. The documents will form part of the process of verifying the financial arrangements associated with the film and its proposed release.
‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ has faced years of release delays
‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ began production nearly a decade ago and has faced several delays over the years. The film, which features Vikram as spy agent John, has repeatedly been postponed amid financial and legal hurdles. Earlier, the court had given the makers time until June 15 to release the film, while allowing them to approach the court for an extension if they were unable to meet the deadline. The deadline was subsequently extended to July 31, but the film did not arrive in theatres.With the latest order, October 31 is now the new deadline for the theatrical release. The court-appointed observers are also expected to examine the documents and clarifications related to the film’s financial arrangements and release plan.
