Several South Indian films are heading to streaming platforms this week. Movie buffs have several options across family drama, action, thriller and relationship-based stories. Among the major releases is ‘Vishwanath & Sons’, which stars Suriya and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles.‘Vishwanath & Sons’ follows Sanjay Vishwanath who is a wealthy industrialist who has little interest in conventional ideas about marriage and family. Despite his resistance to settling down, he faces growing pressure from those around him to have an heir.Sanjay eventually chooses an unconventional path to parenthood and decides to have a child through surrogacy. Suriya plays Sanjay Vishwanath, while Mamitha Baiju portrays Maddy, also known as Madanakameswari. Written and directed by Venky Atluri the family drama will begin streaming on Netflix on September 11, 2026.

Vishal’s ‘Magudam’ premieres on this OTT platform

‘Magudam’ marks Vishal’s directorial debut with the action thriller. The film features Vishal in multiple roles and also stars Anjali and Dushara Vijayan. The narrative revolves around Kirubakaran who is a middle-class medical representative whose ordinary existence changes following an unexpected tragedy. His life becomes connected to a much larger family history involving his estranged father whose name is Lingappa.The film moves between different timelines while examining their complicated relationship. ‘Magudam’ will stream on Prime Video from September 11.

Joju George-led ‘Varavu’

Malayalam cinema also has a new action thriller arriving on OTT this week. ‘Varavu’ brings together actor Joju George and filmmaker Shaji Kailas for the first time in a Malayalam film. Joju George leads the cast in the action-driven project, which has its screenplay written by A.K. Sajan. The writer has previously collaborated with Shaji Kailas on films including ‘Chinthamani Kolacase’ and ‘Red Chilles’. ‘Varavu’ will be available for streaming on ZEE5 from September 11.

‘Vivaah’ explores relationships

‘Vivaah’ takes a different approach by focusing on the emotional complications that arise within modern relationships. The family drama follows four couples and places four women at the centre of its interconnected stories.Dhyan Sreenivasan, Abhishek Sreekumar, Dhruvan, Nayana Elza, Aneesh Gopal, Sruthy Jayan and Naira Nihar feature in the cast. Blesson Elssa has directed the film. The four women find themselves dealing with different challenges in their personal lives.‘Vivaah’ will premiere on SunNXT on September 11, 2026.

‘Thudakkam’ set for OTT

Meanwhile, ‘Thudakkam’ has been lined up for a later OTT premiere. The Malayalam action thriller will begin streaming on JioHotstar on September 18, 2026. Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, the film introduces Vismaya Mohanlal and Aashish Joe Antony as debutants. Sai Kumar and Manoj K. Jayan are also part of the cast, while Mohanlal makes a special cameo appearance.The story follows Meenu, a martial arts practitioner whose life takes a dangerous turn after she becomes the target of a persistent and dangerous stalker. The movie had received good reviews from the audiences.
