Actor Bruce Campbell has opened up about his cancer diagnosis, revealing that doctors have given him approximately five years to live.Campbell, who is currently 68 years old, opened up about his health during an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show. During his chat, the ‘Evil Dead’ actor revealed that he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer that is ‘treatable but not curable’. He announced his diagnosis in March but has not publicly disclosed the type of cancer he has.

“The current thing is a five-year deal,” Campbell told Carolla, “Give or take.”Despite his cancer battle, Campbell said, “I’ve decided, pretty specifically, to live with it, not die from it. You can go down a massive rabbit hole. The cancer rabbit hole is enormous. You can go into focus groups of 10,000 guys who have what you have. I wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.”

Describing the challenges of living with cancer, the actor shared, “It’s a whack-a-mole life, literally. Cancer compromises s— inside your body. So then you go, ‘deal with that,’ so then you deal with that. And then you sort of wait for it to then compromise something else. Meanwhile, you’re trying to put out the whole fire.”Campbell appeared on the podcast to discuss his latest film, ‘Ernie & Emma’, a dramedy about a man who embarks on a road trip with his wife’s ashes following her death.Speaking to The Detroit News in May, Campbell said he was determined to maintain as normal a life as possible while battling cancer. He said, “I’m managing my situation, and I’m gonna live my life as close to what is normal as I can for as long as I can. It’s just that simple.”

In a statement released on his social media handle, Bruce shared his cancer diagnosis. “I’m sorry if that’s a shock – it was to me too.”“The good news is, I’m not going to go into any more detail. I’m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change – appearances and cons and work in general need to take [a] back seat to treatment,” he wrote.“There are several cons this year summer [sic] that I have to cancel. Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand. That’s about it. I’m not trying to enlist sympathy – or advice – I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will). Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while. As always, you’re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!”
