Kavin’s upcoming romantic entertainer ‘Hi’ has been creating interest with its trailer and the unusual combination of the actor with Nayanthara. Ahead of the film’s release, Kavin spoke about his experience working with debutant director Vishnu Edavan. His comments at the film’s event also revealed how different the filmmaker’s story was from what he initially expected after learning about his association with Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Kavin says Vishnu Edavan surprised him with a love story
At the ‘Hi’ event, Kavin recalled how he had formed a completely different idea about Vishnu Edavan’s script. Since Vishnu had worked with Lokesh Kanagaraj, Kavin expected an intense action film. He said, “As Vishnu Edavan is coming from the school of Lokesh Kanagaraj, I thought he would narrate a ‘Ratham Therikka Therikka’ action script. He also came along with the Vikram movie climax Marshal speaker. Then I thought he was going to narrate a Rolex movie spin-off.” Kavin added that Vishnu then played the music through the speaker and began narrating a love story. “I got shocked,” he said with a laugh. The actor’s comments offered a glimpse into the unexpected tone of the film and the trust that eventually developed between him and the director.
Kavin says working with Nayanthara was beyond his bucket list
Kavin also spoke emotionally about getting the opportunity to share the screen with Nayanthara. He recalled reading a social media comment about how the actor, who once worked in television serials, could never have imagined acting alongside the star. Kavin remembered watching Nayanthara’s ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ in Trichy when he was younger. “In Trichy, when Nayanthara’s ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ released, 23 of us went to watch the film. Ten of us did not have tickets. We somehow made it inside. That Kavin would have never thought about acting alongside Nayanthara,” he said. The actor added, “I never had this on my list, but when it happened, it made me feel happy that I have done something good in life. I am grateful to God for this opportunity.” He described the collaboration as something that went beyond his expectations.
‘Hi’ trailer builds buzz for Kavin and Nayanthara’s romantic entertainer
The ‘Hi’ trailer has further increased interest in the unusual pairing. Kavin plays Mayilsamy, a man struggling to find love, while Nayanthara appears as Devayani. The trailer hints at a series of comic and emotional situations after their characters meet. The cast also includes Radikaa Sarathkumar, Prabhu, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, Amrutha Srinivasan, and others. Vishnu Edavan has written and directed the film, while Jen Martin has composed the music. Rajesh Shukla is the cinematographer, and Philomin Raj handles the editing. ‘Hi’ is set to hit theatres on August 28. With Kavin’s personal connection to the project and the trailer’s response adding to the buzz, the film is now heading towards its theatrical debut.
