With his return to the MCU as the main antagonist, fans had been left wanting more. Now, according to recent reports, he will also be making his return as Iron Man in a brand-new project, reviving one of the most beloved characters for a theme park.Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming project.

At the recent D23 Expo, which brought about announcements of the brand new ‘X-Men’ cast and the new ‘Doomsday’ trailer, along with animated returns with ‘Coco 2’ and ‘Frozen 3,’ the production studio behind the MCU announced another brand new project that left fans in a shock.Entertainment Weekly reported that during the event, executives from the studio confirmed that Robert Downey Jr is going to revive his role as Iron Man! The actor will take on the metal suit all over again for an upcoming theme park project, which is being called ‘Avengers: Infinity Defense.’Not only that, but Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye, and Anthony Mackie will appear as Captain America, along with Chris Hemsworth and his Norse god character, Thor. Iman Vellani, who starred in ‘Ms. Marvel,’ will also appear in the project. She specifically filmed scenes for the introduction video for the theme park attraction.The new ride is slated to open at Disney California Adventure theme park in 2028, near the original theme park, which has been running since 1955.

The production house reveals clips from the upcoming theme park project

During the expo, while announcing the project, the team even showed attendees a glimpse of what they can expect from the ride, sharing short clips of the actors’ messages that they recorded specifically for the ride. “Welcome to Avengers Campus. We built this place to recruit and inspire the next generation. You’re a big part of that mission,” Downey said in one of the videos. More clips also showed the Avengers going into battle.Iron Man will also return for another theme park attraction called ‘Stark Fight Lab,’ alongside Mackie and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel making their return in special clips too.This is not the only instance of beloved actors making a return to their iconic characters. Harrison Ford, who is best known for leading the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise, will return to his titular role in an upcoming ride.This will be the first time that Downey will reprise his role as Iron Man after the character’s death in the 2019 hit film, ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
