The couple got engaged in Tuscany on July 31, and Sukriti Kakar stated that the decision to stay private for so long was a conscious one. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, the singer said, “When we got into this, and we were starting to pursue it, we were very clear that we hold this relationship with a lot of pride. And when the right time comes, which is, of course, now, after all of these years, that would be the right announcement.“

While the engagement is official, the wedding itself is still some time away, likely taking place next year. The couple is leaning towards a destination wedding but isn’t in any hurry to lock down details. During the same conversation, Sukriti Kakar added, “There’s no rush. We’re going to take our own time and get into the headspace of planning because he and I are both proper planners.”The singer then shared a personal note about the significance of this wedding within her family. She said, “This is the last wedding in my family because I’m the last sister yet to be married. So I feel like we’ll take some time and plan and hopefully do something beautiful.”

Talking about her bridal look, Sukriti Kakar revealed she has always pictured herself in red. The singer shared, “I mean, honestly, I’ve always wanted to be a red bride. It’s just something that I have always seen for myself.” She also spoke about how the wedding will reflect both her and Shoumik’s cultural backgrounds. She added, “Our wedding will be like the one from ‘2 States. He’s South Indian, and I am Punjabi. So, it’s like a mix of cultures. His mom is also so deep-rooted in all the South Indian cultures. So, I don’t know what it’s gonna be, but I think we’re very excited.”
