Meghan Markle’s latest family vacation photos cause online backlash
Meghan Markle recently took to her Instagram account to share a series of photos from her family vacation with Prince Harry and their children. While many people made comparisons between the photos and Princess Diana’s famous vacation photographs from the 1990s, there were a lot of other people who started the debate about how insensitive they really were. Many people called out the ‘Suits’ actress for making a deeply personal family moment public. Reportedly while in Princess Diana’s childhood home in Althorp, the family of four had also visited her final resting place as well. Markle had posted the photos with the caption, “Summer Holiday.” One of the photos shared a glimpse of the family walking amidst the greenery, with Archie and Prince Harry holding flowers while Lilibet walked closer to her mother. Many people online called the actress out for sharing the specific photo on her account, commenting that it seemed to be from where Princess Diana’s final resting place was. One person commented, that it was “disrespectful, exploitative and gross”, while another person shared that “Harry and the boy both have gigantic bouquets of flowers-wonder what for, at Althorp? So #MeghanMarkle really posted photos of them on the way to #PrincessDiana’s grave. Wow. How disrespectful, exploitative and gross. What should really be a very private and personal family moment she posts on her public influencer platform for the world to see. Of the-I’m sure-tons of photos she took at Althorp, she wanted you to know she was at Diana’s grave and Harry.” Many other people commented similar things online, with some even questioning about how Diana’s brother, Charles, who still lives in their ancestral home would allow for a photo like this to be shared online on social media. However, there were a few people who stood by Markle sharing the photos online, with one person commenting that haters are blowing the situation out of proportion. Another supporter commented, “They aren’t angry because Meghan finally posted the photos. Quite the opposite, they’ve been begging for them, refreshing instagram every hour of the day for weeks. They’re angry because the photos have blown a hole through weeks of false claims that Meghan & the children never came to the UK.” At the time of writing, the Duchess of Sussex has not shared any comments about the backlash.
